A Glimpse of Light

It was an ordinary day of editing.  A little procrastination, a bit of angst and then a settling down to work.  Slowly as I worked through the manuscript, I realized that there wasn't as much to edit as there was before.  Things were starting to fall in place and perhaps this actually might be a decent book after all.

I skipped to the end where I wanted to add a little bit about a recent event.  And as I continued to set down that chapter that tied India to the new event in my life, the whole book finally tied together.  It went together seamlessly as if I had planned it all along.  What I started with, I ended with and everything in between seemed to support that.

As it was happening, I could hardly believe what I was writing.  It was a perfectly beautiful ending that put tears in my eyes.  All those weeks of slogging away at editing are worth it now.  It's in these moments when the hard work of writing makes sense.

Of course, I'll have to go back and look at this chapter again since it's a first draft of a chapter.  But for now, I think it's enough. And that spiral line of editing from my previous post has gone another circuilt closer to done.
