This Might Actually Work and a word about Backlisting

The Fruit of My Labor is beginning to show

Today I spent some time in making structure in my book.  I added a spot to put the cover art, a title page, intro, TOC, then after the chapters, acknowledgements, about the author and the kicker - other books by the author.

Did you know that there are 3 other books by the author of the book I'm writing?  I didn't, until I wrote that page.  Of course it'll need editing, but it was fun to put that filler info in.  It's really not too far fetched though, to put other books in.  I am planning on releasing 2 books near the same time with a third to follow within a month.

The reason why I think this is important, besides reading why it works for others is because of the term "backlist."  Even though backlist refers to older books, this term is being bandieed about in the epublishing world a bit to mean all the other books that are out by an author.

It's important to have a backlist.  After someone reads your book and hopefully likes it and wants more, they will most likely look for more from you.  if there is no other books by you, then they will either go on to the next book and forget about you, or look for your website for info.

I want people to read one book and then go on to the next, enticed by my great writing and cheap prices.  They can only do that if I have more than one book out, even from the beginning.

Anyway, I am still in the process of editing my first book, so the backlist will have to go on the backburner for now.
